Driver dies in crash after vehicle hits a pole in Brampton

A driver has died after their vehicle veered off the road and collided with a pole in Brampton early this morning.
On Sunday (Aug. 20) at approximately 1:30 a.m., Peel Regional Police responded to a collision involving a single vehicle near Steeles and Finch Ave., southwest of Goreway Dr.
Police say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unknown if there were any passengers in the vehicle or if they sustained any injuries.
There continues to be a heavy police presence in the area as the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.
Officers are requesting the public to avoid the area for the time being and to find alternate routes.
Investigators have not provided an estimated timeframe for the reopening of the affected roads.
