Cyclist dies after collision in Belleville area

A woman who was a passenger in an SUV is fighting for her life after a crash in Brampton yesterday (April 14).

The crash, which took place in the southbound lanes of Airport Road, north of Williams Parkway, just after 3 p.m., claimed the life of the male driver.

According to reports, emergency crews had to extract the two people from the SUV, which struck the back of a transport truck.

The woman was airlifted to a trauma centre, where she is listed in life-threatening condition. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

They were the only two occupants of the SUV. The driver of the truck was not injured and remained at the scene.

Peel Regional Police say that speed may have been a factor. They are continuing their investigation.

Officers ask anyone with a dashcam or other video that captures that crash to contact them at 905-453-3311.
