A Brampton driver was charged with reckless driving by Peel Regional Police this evening (August 4).

The incident occurred near Financial Dr. and Grouse Lane when authorities were conducting routine speed checks in the area.

The driver’s actions posed a significant threat to public safety when authorities found the driver allegedly clocking a speed of 111km/hr in a 50km/hr zone.

As a result of the dangerous driving, the individual was charged with two offences – stunting and speeding.

Police have also suspended the driver’s license for a period of 30 days and his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

During the investigation, police said that the driver claimed he was not aware of the vehicle’s “Sport Mode” being activated at the time of the incident.

Police say the unintended activation of this mode caused the vehicle to accelerate to such high speeds unknowingly.
