Submissions for DRIFF, Durham Region’s annual film festival, are now open.
The early bird submission deadline for the popular Durham Region International Film Festival, which crowned its winners last year at a gala at the Biltmore Theatre in Oshawa after special screenings at venues in Ajax and Whitby, is April 3.
Visit submission rules and FilmFreeway for all the details on submitting your next film.
In other film news, streaming service Netflix has launched a new website called Netflix in Your Neighbourhood where you can check out which of your favourite streaming films have been shot near you, such as ‘Luckiest Girl Alive,’ a movie with several of the key scenes filmed in Whitby.
DRIFF and Durham Region have also put out the invite to help celebrate Black History Month February 2 with the Together We Rise Durham: Excellence Through the Arts celebration at Oshawa’s McLaughlin Gallery, featuring Toronto International Film Festival CEO Cameron Bailey as the guest speaker.
The evening, which runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., will highlight Black talent and showcase artistic displays with live music, performances and more.
