A Brampton woman is planning her dream trip to Boston after landing a $50,000 top-prize lottery win.

Amanda Cowton is from Brampton and says she’s a regular lottery player and particularly enjoys the Instant Crossword game for the entertainment value.

Cowton says she matched four words on a recent ticket and revealed the letter ‘E’ filling out the rest of the puzzle.

“When I flipped the ticket around to read the rules, I saw 11 words was a $50,000 win. I thought something went wrong,” she said while picking up her winnings at the OLG prize centre in Toronto.

Cowton pulled out her phone to scan her ticket on the OLG App to confirm the win and said she was in disbelief.

“I always wondered what it would feel like to win. My hands were shaking with excitement,” she said.

Cowton said she plans to invest her winnings and take a trip to Boston to see a New England Patriots game.

Instant Crossword is available for $3 a play and the top prize is $50,000, and the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.91 according to the OLG.

The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Central Park Dr. in Brampton.
