Mom knows best and now Adelle Duchene of Hamilton is a lottery winner.

The retired retail worker had a dream about her late mother and in it she told her daughter to go purchase a lottery ticket. Duchene did exactly that and ended winning an Ontario 49 second prize worth $50,000 in the April 7, 2021 draw.

“I fell asleep in my chair and had a dream that my mom told me if I wanted to get a lottery ticket, I should go now,” said Duchene, who has been playing the lottery regularly for 15 years now. “The next morning, I won!”

She checked her tickets the next day on OLG.ca.

“My granddaughter thought I won $50, so we brought it to the store to check,” she said.

Duchene plans to share the windfall with her grandchildren, though because of the pandemic those plans will have to wait a little while.

“I will take a trip to Florida when it’s safe,” she said.

Duchene’s winning ticket was purchase at Water Convenience on King Street in Hamilton.
