Dozens of Ontario restaurants make top 100 patio dining list in Canada

Summer is nearly here and that means it is patio season.

The Top 100 Restaurants for Outdoor Dining in 2025 is out from online restaurant reservation service OpenTable. The list is compiled by analyzing more than one million diner reviews and metrics, including diner ratings, reservation demand and a minimum number of ‘outdoor dining’ reviews, among other factors.

New OpenTable data shows outdoor dining is up 21 per cent year-over-year in Canada in the last 12 months, with the move to dining outside beginning to trend on May 8 last year.

Research shows that 32 per cent of patio diners will even brave less than ideal conditions to stay outside instead of moving indoors, OpenTable said in a press release.

The 2025 list features a variety of picturesque patios across Canada and highlights some great pet-friendly options as well.

The data revealed a 25 per cent increase in dining at restaurants tagged as pet-friendly year-over-year. For those who have a dog, 56 per cent shared they dine out with their dog at restaurants/cafes at least once a month in the summer, and 36 per cent indicated they would “definitely” dine out more often with their dog if it was easier to find dog-friendly options.

“We are seeing a demand for pet-friendly patios in real time, as dining is growing 11 per cent higher year-over-year at pet-friendly restaurants than those that don’t allow pets,” said Matt Davis, Senior Country Director, OpenTable Canada.

Dog icons indicate which restaurants are pet-friendly on the list.

An outdoor dining experience could also be a great way to celebrate Father’s Day. According to OpenTable data, in 2024 Father’s Day dining was up 11 per cent via online reservations, year-over-year.
