Police say a Brampton man accused of 10 armed robberies was already wanted for breaching probation when he went on an alleged crime spree last year.

Between Sept. 20 and Sept. 30, Peel Regional Police say several suspects targeted and robbed 10 pharmacies and currency exchange businesses across the Region of Peel.

Seven of the robberies were in Brampton and three were in Mississauga, and police said the suspects used knives and guns during each of the 10 hold-ups.

After a months-long investigation, police have arrested and charged a 22-year-old from Brampton.

Steven Singh, 22, of Brampton has been hit with 27 charges including:

  • Robbery
  • Wearing a Disguise
  • Using an Imitation Firearm

Police say Singh was wanted on three outstanding warrants for Breaching Probation and Failing to Comply with a Recognizance when he was arrested.

The accused appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Wednesday. None of the allegations have been proven in court.

Police say the investigation is still open and investigators expect to make further arrests and charges.
