The best time of the year is almost here and Downtown Oakville is kicking off the Christmas shopping season with its annual “Light up the Night” event.

Downtown Oakville’s Hometown Holiday gets underway on Friday, Nov. 18, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Town Square.

Local residents are welcome to go for a stroll and take in all the “spectacular” holiday lighting, including that of a 30-foot-tall ribbon tree and a Winter Wonderland of lights.

There’s also live entertainment as The Sugar Plums, voted the Carolling champions on the CW Network, will take the stage at Town Square.

The talented trio bring back memories of the Andrew Sisters, performing holiday favourites a cappella with a vintage flair and beautiful harmonies.

Shows are scheduled for 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Residents can also take a horse and carriage ride around Downtown Oakville from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.. The rides leave at Robinson Street in Towne Square.

You’ll also be able to stop in and pay a visit to the big man himself as Santa Claus will be waiting for you at his cabin in Centennial Square, located at Navy St and Lakeshore Rd.

Participating downtown shops are staying open late for all those looking to get a head-start on their holiday shopping.
