A span of major roadway in Hamilton that connects Highway 403 to downtown was closed late on Monday afternoon (Sept. 12) for a police investigation.

An automated post from Hamilton Police says that York Blvd. is closed in both directions, betweeen Highway 403 and Dundurn Street. Dundurn is the first north-south street that a driver encounters after exiting from the 403, and the last left turn before the on-ramp to the eastbound 403.

“Please stay out of the area for an ongoing police investigation,” HPS said at 4:48 p.m. on Monday.

Hamilton Police were busy Monday afternoon, since they also had to issue an alert relative to an active shooter in a nearby community.

There was a massive manhunt in the GTA after a man in Mississauga shot three people, one of whom is dead and believed to be a Toronto police officer. They fled before being arrested in Halton Region shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Police in Hamilton informed the public were “monitoring the situation,” and shared the licence plate of the driver’s car, along with its make, model and colour.
