Supporting breast cancer research and awareness doesn’t have to be hard – it’s as easy as dropping off your used bras at la Vie en Rose.

The major, iconic Canadian company, known for its trendy selection of women’s lingerie, sleepwear, swimwear and accessories, has pledged to donate $1 to breast cancer research for every used bra dropped off throughout the month of May.

It’s part of the retailer’s Be Your Own Breast Friend campaign. Here’s how it works:

  1. Keep the used bras you don’t wear anymore and bring them to any la Vie en Rose locations across Canada in May
  2. For every used bra collected, la Vie en Rose will donate $1 to breast cancer research (limit of 40 bras per visit)
  3. The used bras are given to an organization that repurposes them or takes them apart to retrieve the recyclable materials

Have more than 40 bras to donate? All day long on May 15th, the store will host a fun large-scale bra collection in-person event with music and more at their RioCan Centre Burloak location in Oakville, as well as three other locations in Montreal, Quebec City, and Calgary.

The goal of the campaign is to raise at least $200,000 for breast cancer research.

While la Vie en Rose will only donate for bras collected in May and October, the store collects used bras all year long to repurpose/recycle them.

For those who want to show even more support, you can purchase a “Be Your Own Breast Friend” t-shirt and help spread the word. La Vie en Rose will donate $10 for every t-shirt sold in store and online.

La Vie en Rose has been involved in raising funds for breast cancer research for twenty years via its Roses of Hope Foundation, which has donated more than $2.5 million to organizations that support women. More than half of this amount has been donated specifically to organizations fighting breast cancer or helping women living with the disease.

With women’s comfort in mind, la Vie en Rose’s bra and lingerie experts make sure their bras are both trendy and comfortable. The store also designs quality mastectomy bras for women who have undergone single or double mastectomies, or who have very sensitive breasts following cancer treatments and procedures.

If you’ve got old bras laying around, now’s the perfect time to gather them up and bring them to any la Vie en Rose location, or visit their RioCan Centre Burloak location in Oakville on May 15th.
