Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie has joined with other GTHA mayors to ask people not to vaccine shop.

Instead, the mayors say people should accept the vaccine that is being offered to them.

”Vaccines are offered in a way that is completely safe and decisions are made entirely based on available supply,” said Crombie via Twitter.

Her statement comes as news that shipments of the Pfizer vaccine have been delayed. For the time being, those who received a Pfizer first dose will only be offered the Moderna vaccine for the second dose.

The mayor says the vaccines are interchangeable suggesting that now is not the time to be to be picky as the second dose roll out picks up steam.

“We need every resident to get fully vaccinated as quickly as possible to make sure we are prepared to confront the Delta variant and get on with re-opening our region,” the mayors say in a statement.

Studies have indicated the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are interchangeable and effective and safe for everyone over age 18.
