Dispute on Oakville bus leads to woman allegedly pulling knife, charges laid

A 22-year-old Oakville woman who allegedly pulled a knife in a dispute on a local bus last weekend is facing multiple charges.

The incident took place on a bus travelling on Cross Ave. around 12:40 p.m. on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 5).

Halton Regional Police Cst. Steve Elms tells inhalton.com that the woman and a male got into a verbal altercation before the woman “pulled out a knife” and “threatened the male” before fleeing the scene on foot.

Police received a description of the female suspect and  later observed her in the area of Trafalgar Rd. and the QEW where she was arrested.

Jada Payne, 22, of Oakville has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The charges have yet to be proven in court.
