A discount supermarket chain says it will open a new store in Burlington this fall.
No Frills, part of the Loblaws group of stores, is currently setting up shop and is looking at a late November opening at the plaza located at 1035 Plains Road East in the building that formerly housed Treasure Hunt.
With more than 280 stores across Canada, No Frills is one of the country’s largest discount food chains, known for its “value-driven” model of low prices, offering basic products alongside national brands as products on the President’s Choice and No Name labels.
Another Loblaw’s grocery, Fortino’s, is located nearby but is not considered a competitor by the parent company, which sees the stores attracting different clientele.
No Frills opened its first store in 1978, offering a limited amount of generic products and in 1987 transitioned into a franchise system operated by local entrepreneurs.
The company says it will release more information about the new store in the weeks ahead.
