Fifty years later, KC & The Sunshine Band are getting down (tonight) at the OLG Stage in Fallsview Casino Resort this September.

Looking back, disco was actually a short-lived musical style, starting in roughly 1974 and fizzling out by 1980.

That all being said, due to the danceability of the funk rhythm sound, it basically owned the second half of the 1970s.

Now nearly 50 years later, the biggest disco-pop artist of them all, KC & the Sunshine Band will bring their infectious hits back to the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls on Sept. 17.

Among their many unmistakable funk hits were Shake Your Booty, Get Down Tonight, That’s the Way (I Like It), Boogie Shoes, Rock Your Baby, Where is the Love and Give It Up.

Formed in 1973, record store employee Harry Wayne Casey (a.k.a. KC) started piecing together the band. They had a couple of minor hits in their area of Florida before exploding onto the scene in 1975 with the self-titled album KC & the Sunshine Band which topped the R&B chart in April and hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in August.

Their show will start at 7 p.m. and tickets will go on sale Friday, May 12 and can be found HERE.

Meanwhile, in all their 1975 glory, here’s their first major hit Get Down Tonight.
