Just how high a proposed new residential condominium in Bronte goes is still being fought over by the developers and Oakville residents.

The proposed zoning by-law amendment application for the 245-unit development, slated to be built on 0.38 hectares of land at the southwest corner of Lakeshore Rd. West and East St., was appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal, which has yet to set any hearing dates.

The initial application proposes a 15-storey mixed use building containing 245 residential rental units and 446 square metres of at-grade commercial space. As well, there would be 273 parking spaces within 3.5 underground parking levels.

But local residents are being asked to consider two options as a way of a settlement offer by the developer.

The offers are based on either a 13 storey building or a 10 storey building with different designs. Each option includes up to 244 units, at grade retail space and 268 parking spaces (one parking space per residential unit plus 24 parking spaces for retail and visitor parking).

Still, the developer can revert to the initial proposal if the tribunal rules in their favour.

Oakville residents will be able to have their say on the proposal on a videoconference being hosted by the Town’s Planning and Development Council on May 2 at 6:30 p.m.
