Despite planned closures, Starbucks opens new store serving Mississauga, Oakville

Starbucks is continuing to expand in key markets with a new location set to open next week at the Oakville Entertainment Centrum, a major retail and entertainment destination that serves both Oakville and western Mississauga.

The coffee chain says the new store at 2027 Winston Park Dr. is scheduled to officially open on June 16.

The location will feature indoor and outdoor seating, a drive-thru and Starbucks Mobile Order & Pay, offering customers a range of options whether they are grabbing coffee on the go, meeting friends or stopping in before a movie.

“We are thrilled to open a new Starbucks at Oakville Entertainment Centrum,” the company said in a statement. “The new location includes indoor and outdoor seating that invites the community to sit and stay awhile to enjoy their Starbucks favourites, a drive-thru for added convenience and Starbucks Mobile Order & Pay.”

While the new store is technically located in Oakville, it sits just west of the Mississauga border near Winston Churchill Boulevard and the QEW, placing it within a commercial district that attracts visitors from both municipalities.

The Oakville Entertainment Centrum is home to a variety of restaurants, retail businesses and entertainment venues, including a movie theatre, making it one of the busiest commercial hubs in the area.

The new location will serve shoppers, moviegoers, nearby office workers and commuters travelling through the Winston Park Drive corridor.

The opening comes months after Starbucks announced a major restructuring initiative that included plans to close hundreds of locations across Canada and the United States and eliminate approximately 900 corporate positions.

At the time, the company said the changes were intended to streamline operations while continuing to invest in strategic growth opportunities. Starbucks also indicated it planned to resume store growth after a temporary reduction in its overall North American footprint.

The new Oakville location reflects that strategy, with a focus on convenience and accessibility through features such as a drive-thru, mobile ordering and expanded seating options.

For residents in west Mississauga and Oakville, the store will add another coffee option in an area already known as a destination for dining, shopping and entertainment.
