Delta variant pushes Niagara Region COVID-19 cases to 214

The Delta variant continues to steamroll over Niagara Region as 32 new COVID-19 were announced today.

With 17 resolved cases, that brings the region’s total up to 214.

Delta is responsible for five per cent of the cases but is “likely” the source of the remaining 95 per cent.

St Catharines continues to lead the municipalities with 67 cases but Niagara Falls took a jump up, recording 51 cases. Welland, Lincoln, Thorold and Grimsby all remain in double digits, as well, with 21, 14, 13 and 10 cases respectively.

The remaining six municipalities are all recording between one and nine cases
