Delayed flights create anxious travellers at Pearson Airport in Mississauga

A network-wide computer glitch at Sunwing Airlines has left hundreds of travellers waiting anxiously for dozens of delayed flights at Pearson Airport in Mississauga.

Many other passengers who are travelling abroad are also waiting for delayed Sunwing flights to come back to Canada.

Numerous travellers at Pearson today (April 18) report they’ve been waiting more than seven hours to board their flights.

The Toronto-based low-cost airline tweeted late this morning that, “Our systems provider is experiencing a network-wide system issue which has impacted check-in and boarding, resulting in ongoing flight delays for a number of Sunwing flights.”

The glitched reservations system, which also serves other airlines, is backing up their air traffic as well.

Another tweet from Sunwing officials promises to keep passengers updated as more information becomes available.

Sunwing’s flight schedule today shows 11 flights are to leave from Pearson Airport, most bound for sunny vacation destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico.

The first departed at 6:15 a.m. while the last scheduled flight today is slated to take off at 10:35 p.m. tonight, bound for Montreal.
