Police are seeking witnesses to an unusual theft in Mississauga.

On Tuesday, September 25, police say one or more suspects gained entry to a home on Minaki Road in the Port Credit area and stole a number of personal items.

Among the stolen items was a box containing the ashes of the homeowner’s deceased wife, which the family planned to bury on Thanksgiving weekend, police say.

The box is wooden, cherry coloured, and has a marble top.

Investigators are appealing for assistance from witnesses or residents in the area who may have information on the suspect(s) or the whereabouts of the stolen box.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-453-2121, ext. 1233, or Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or peelcrimestoppers.ca.
