The Chief Corner of Ontario’s office has been called in to investigate the death of a worker at a Burlington warehouse.

The worker died on April 7 three days following exposure to a chemical spill at ControlChem Canada.

In this case, the Ontario Chief Coroner is involved because the death appears to be the result of an accident that occurred suddenly at a workplace.

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour has also been investigating the case.

Emergency crews were called to the Harvester Road warehouse around noon on April 4 after receiving reports of a possible chemical spill. Streets in the area were closed off over fears that fumes could spread.

It’s believed the worker was exposed to the chemicals while it was being transferred from one container to another. The worker collapsed at the scene.

The identity of the worker has not been released.

The company has said it is carrying out its own investigation into the incident.
