Date set for Milton provincial byelection

Voters in Milton will be headed to the polls next month to select a new Member of Provincial Parliament.

Thursday, May 2 is the day of the election that will send a representative to the Ontario legislature replacing Parm Gill.

Gill, a member of the Conservative Party, stepped down to run in the next federal election.

For the May 2 vote, candidates that have been nominated to run are Zeeshan Hamid for the Conservatives and Galen Haidoo-Harris of the Liberals.

The NDP and Green parties, which ran candidates in the last Provincial election, have not yet indicated if they will be fielding candidates for the byelection. Nomination will close on April 18.

There are many opportunities to vote in the byelection.

  • April 3 to 26 – Submit your application to vote by mail by 6 p.m. on April 26. Apply online  or download an application.

The Provincial riding of Milton covers the entire town with approximately 79,000 people eligible to vote.

Parm Gill has represented the riding since 2018 but he was previously elected to serve in the Federal government when he ran successfully in 2011 in Brampton.
