Some damaging weather is expected to hit Mississauga soon – according to Environment Canada.

A special weather statement is currently in effect for the city in regards to some damaging winds.

“Damaging winds with gusts to 90 to 110 km/h are expected to develop Sunday [Feb. 24] afternoon after the passage of a sharp cold front,” reads the statement.

The winds are expected to continue throughout Sunday night, gradually weakening on Monday (Feb. 25).

Environment Canada notes that damage to buildings is possible as well as power outages.

Flurries and blowing snow is also expected to develop Sunday afternoon and snowfall (two to five cm) is possible for Monday morning.

“More importantly, any fresh snow that falls will be whipped up by the very strong winds creating whiteout conditions at times,” notes Environment Canada.

This expected weather could reduce visibility, causing travelling to be hazardous.
