Four new public schools and three Catholic schools in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills are reporting cases of COVID-19 on Nov. 22.
Several of the new cases are being reported among staff at the affected schools. Neither the Halton public nor Catholic school board has a strict vaccine mandate for their workforce. Both offer negative testing options for those who refuse to get vaccinated.
There are now 21 active infections in Halton schools and a pair of classrooms are closed.
When a classroom is closed, students are sent home to quarantine for at least 10 days and learn remotely.
