DAILY UPDATE: Oakville, Milton, Burlington schools still battling rising COVID-19 cases on Dec. 1

There are 29 active COVID-19 cases in staff and students at schools in Oakville, Milton, Burlington and Halton Hills on Dec. 1.

Only a couple of new cases were reported overnight after the total jumped up significantly the last few days.

The overall drop from 37 cases yesterday is because of older cases being resolved at Halton Catholic and public schools.

Five classrooms remain closed, all at the Catholic board, as the public board continues to apply a different standard than most boards in the province regarding closed classes.

When a classroom is closed, students are sent home to quarantine for at least 10 days and learn remotely.

As older cases are resolved, schools are removed from the listing.
