Although total case counts dropped, four new Halton District School Board schools reported new COVID-19 infections on Oct. 13.

Hawthorne Village and Joshua Creek public schools, and Garth Webb and Nelson High Schools all reported new cases overnight. Cases at several other schools, however, were cleared.

There are now 11 active cases at schools in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills.

The board continues to report zero closed classrooms.

A classroom is considered closed when the teacher and students have to spend at least 10 days quarantining at home and learning online.

“We do have some schools that have outbreaks in classrooms, but we don’t have any classes that are considered completely ‘closed’,” said a board spokesperson.

Here’s a list of schools currently reporting at least one COVID-19 case:

Elementary

  • Anne J. MacArthur: 2 students
  • Falgarwood: 2 students
  • Hawthorne Village: 1 student
  • Joshua Creek: 1 student
  • Maple Grove: 1 staff
  • West Oak: 1 student

Secondary

  • Garth Webb: 1 student
  • Nelson: 2 students
