UPDATE: In an update provided by Peel Regional Police, they said the cyclist struck by the vehicle is in serious but stable condition. All roadways have reopened.

A cyclist has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car near the QEW in Mississauga this morning.

Peel Regional Police said on social media the cyclist was hit by the vehicle at Mississauga and Indian roads, south of the QEW, just before 8:30 a.m.

Police didn’t say if the cyclist is male or female, nor did they reveal the age of the person, who was rushed to a trauma centre with “life-threatening injuries.” However, reports indicate the cyclist is male.

According to police, the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene.

Mississauga Road has been closed to traffic between Indian and Kane roads while police investigate.

Drivers are being told to use alternate routes.
