Cyclist seriously wounded in Whitby car crash

A Whitby woman suffered serious injuries this morning when she was struck by a car in this morning.

The woman, 47, was peddling south on Thickson Rd N around 6:10 a.m. on June 16. A car driving the same direction hit the woman as they approached Carnwith Dr E.

The crash caused serious, but non-life threatening injuries to the woman. Durham Paramedic Services rushed to woman to a Toronto hospital for treatment. She remains in stable condition.

The driver meanwhile remain at the scene and has cooperated with the police investigation.

The Durham Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit went to the scene of the crash to investigate. They shut down the intersection for several hours. Roads were closed between Carnwith Dr and Columbus Rd.
