Cyclist in critical condition after collision with SUV in Niagara Falls

A 44-year-old male cyclist remains in critical condition at an out-of-town hospital after colliding with an SUV in Niagara Falls on Saturday (Sept. 23).

Police were called to the scene on Portage Rd. near Upper Rapids Rd. just past 7:30 p.m. and discovered the cyclist was pedaling east on Portage when he was hit by an SUV being driven by a 73-year-old woman.

His injuries were left-threatening so Niagara EMS quickly got him to a hospital. The driver of the SUV was unharmed.

The Niagara Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and their Forensic Services Unit are still trying to piece together the circumstances around the accident but so far, no charges have been laid.
