As the real estate market continues to cool, a custom-made Mississauga home sold for more than $400,000 under the asking price this week.
The Fairview home at 3408 Joan Dr. was on the market for just over 100 days. It was listed for $2.5 million and sold on Aug. 23 for just under $2.1 million.
“I think we listed too high,” listing agent Italia Argier Re/Max West Realty Inc. tells inSauga.
But the home was the pride of the owner, a contractor who managed his own build in 1992. He had an emotional attachment to the home so it was difficult to price it too low.
“He built it from scratch for himself,” Argier says.
The four-bedroom home was built with fine workmanship with high-quality hardwood floors throughout.
“He did an amazing job,” she says.
It is also in a great location near Square One Shopping Centre, schools and transportation.
The home boasts a bright kitchen, spacious living room and dining room.
A beautiful wood staircase leads to the second floor with high ceilings and a skylight.
Upstairs, the primary bedroom is bright and airy. There is also a huge spa-like bathroom with a massive tub.
There is also a gorgeous garden, large backyard and a gazebo. There is also a two-bay garage.
Despite all these features, the home didn’t get the price it might have a few months ago. The market is slowing down, particularly for larger homes.
“It’s harder to sell larger the ones [and] it’s harder to sell anything over 2 million,” says Argier. “Because the interest rates are going up so high.”
