Culprit arrested in St. Catharines robbery investigation involving BMX bike and iPhone

Niagara Regional Police have arrested a man in connection to an alleged robbery that took place in July (2023) in the City of St. Catharines.
On Monday (July. 17) police say that an unidentified man approached the victim on Queenston St. near Oakdale Ave.
According to investigators, without displaying a weapon, the culprit verbally threatened the victim while demanding his possessions.
The suspect fled the area on the victim’s BMX bike, making off with an iPhone and t-shirt, officers say.
On Wednesday (Sept. 6) Dario Thomas Angelo, 28, from St. Catharines was arrested and charged with robbery.
Angelo underwent a bail hearing, conducted via video link, on Sept. 7, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.
As of now, police say, Angelo remains in the custody of Ontario Correctional Services.
Detectives are thanking the public for helping with the investigation. With the suspect’s arrest, the images have been taken down from the Niagara police social media accounts.
