Crossing guard hospitalized after being struck by pick up truck in St. Catharines

A 79-year-old crossing guard from St. Catharines suffered serious injuries after being struck by a pick up truck and trapped under it this afternoon (Sept. 5).

Niagara Regional Police Service say that they responded to a collision at 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Haig St and Carlton St.

Police say, the woman was standing on the corner when she was struck by a grey 2020 Ford F150 pick up truck and subsequently got trapped.
Paramedics and Fire service personnel freed the crossing guard and she was transported to an out of region hospital for further treatment.
Authorities say that she is currently in a non-life threatening condition and that they’ve notified The Ministry of Labour.

The intersection and portions of Haig St that were closed during the investigation, have now been opened to vehicular traffic.
