Crews battle house fire in downtown Brampton

Firefighters worked to knock down a blaze at a home in downtown Brampton over the weekend.

Brampton Fire & Emergency Services says the fire broke out at a residence in the area of West Street and Queen Street West in Brampton on Sunday.

A picture from the scene shared by BFES Chief Bill Boyes showed at least three fire trucks responded to the blaze along with officers from Peel Regional Police.

Boyes says firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control and no injuries were reported.

The was at least the second in Brampton last week and followed a fire on Friday morning at a plaza in the area of Bovaird Drive East and Main Street North in Brampton.

Several businesses are in the strip mall including but firefighters have not said where the fire started.
