Oshawa Community Credit Union signed off on two sponsorship deals valued at $145,000 with the City of Oshawa

The Oshawa Community Credit Union, which has been involved in the community for generations, has signed on as a presenting sponsor of the city’s Playground Program and as a naming rights partner for the pool at Delpark Homes Centre.

The credit union signed a three-year agreement to sponsor the Playground Program, valued at $45,000, as well as a five-year, $100,000 Naming Rights deal for the pool at Delpark Homes Centre.

“We are incredibly proud to partner with the City of Oshawa to invest in the well-being and future of our local community members,” said Oshawa Community Credit Union’s Jakob Henninger. “OCCU operates on the fundamental belief of giving back to our community, and we believe this sponsorship initiative is a testament to our mission of shared prosperity.”

As the Playground Program’s presenting sponsor, the credit union will help bring free camp activities to 16 neighbourhood parks in Oshawa over the summer months.

“On behalf of City Council and the community, we extend a tremendous thank you to the Oshawa Community Credit Union for their support in helping enhance recreation opportunities,” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “These valued partnerships reflect a shared commitment to investing in an active, connected and healthy community.”

As part of the naming rights partnership, the pool at Delpark Homes Centre is now officially named the ‘OCCU, Oshawa Community Credit Union Pool.’ The new name was celebrated with a free community swim on July 4, where members of city council and credit union representatives joined residents with a dip to mark the occasion.

The sponsorship provides OCCU with prominent on-site recognition, including decals throughout the pool area, rink board advertising across the arenas and additional signage across the recreation centre, along with hosting an annual free swim.

Delpark Homes Centre features a leisure pool, four NHL-sized ice pads, a gymnasium, aerobics studio, fitness centre and elevated indoor walking track. The facility is also home to an Oshawa Public Libraries branch and an Oshawa Senior Community Centres (OSCC55+) location.

Delpark’s $150,000 per year sponsorship deal at the recreation complex expires in 2028.

Oshawa Community Credit Union has served its members for more than 80 years.
