If you are planning to get creative over the holidays, we invite you to check out the online activities being hosted this month by the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA).

While PAMA is currently closed to visitors due to construction happening at the facility, they’re still planning plenty of fun events and activities that can be done from the comfort of your home.

Spend some time with your young ones while making your own holiday cards, painting a winter wonderland, and more! Spots are going fast, so be sure to reserve yours before they’re gone.

Here’s a look at everything at you can do with PAMA this December:

Make holiday cards with PAMA’s card-making art kit.

Why buy your holiday cards when you can make them yourself? PAMA is offering card-making kits that include instructions, interesting facts from the PAMA collection, and all the materials you’ll need to create holiday cards for the special people in your life. While the facility is closed, the front desk will remain open for kit pick-ups (you can pick up your kit between 9 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Monday to Friday until December 23rd. Buy your kit here.

The kit includes:

  • Step-by-step instructions
  • PAMA collection highlights
  • 4 blank watercolour cards with envelopes
  • Bleeding art tissue paper
  • Black marker
  • Paintbrush
  • White crayon
  • Glitter glue

Create stunning snowflake art.

You don’t need to be an amazing artist to create this gorgeous looking artwork. PAMA will walk you through the step-by-step instructions and what you’ll need to create snowflake art inspired by the winter landscape in Katherine Takpannie’s Amautik (a work you may have seen on PAMA’s outdoor banner display). The result is snowflakes so vivid, you’d swear they’ll melt on your fingertips! Download the instructions here.

Paint a winter wonderland with a local artist.

Join PAMA and local artist Sony Johny for an acrylic on canvas workshop designed for kids. You’ll create your own winter-themed painting while gaining inspiration from PAMA’s collections and exhibitions. A list of all the supplies you’ll need will be provided. Reserve your spot here.

Sony is a local artist who draws inspiration for her art from the simple joys of everyday life. She loves exploring different art styles and art forms, and finds the process of creating art extremely meditative. There’s a lot you can learn from painting alongside this talented artist!

Discover what happens when science meets art.

Fun things happen when science and art collide! You’ll explore perception as you use shadows, colour, motion, and light to create art from science. You’ll make a puppet, a spinning top and a kaleidoscope, and even design your own galaxy.

Registration includes your own mini-science kit filled with creative and hands-on materials for you to keep. Kits can be picked up at the PAMA Art Gallery Access Peel Desk between 9 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Monday to Friday until December 22nd. Reserve your spot here.
