Four people including two men from Mississauga and Brampton are facing charges following an attempted run from the law and a crash with a police cruiser in Kitchener.

The incident happened around 4:00 p.m. on Friday (June 30) according to the Waterloo Regional Police when officers were called to the area of Evelyn Cres. in Kitchener for reports of a suspicious vehicle.

Police say that officers at the scene discovered the suspicious vehicle had been reported stolen.

That’s when two male passengers tried to flee on foot while the driver took off in the vehicle, ramming into a police cruiser and attempting to flee on flat tires, police say.

The suspects on foot were arrested after a brief foot chase with officers, and police say the vehicle was located on Peter St. and both the driver and a passenger were arrested nearby.

Four people were arrested including the 28-year-old male driver from Cambridge, two 20-year-old males from Mississauga and Brampton, and a 30-year-old female from Caledon.

The accused are facing 18 combined charges including impaired operation of a vehicle, possession of controlled substances, and break-and-enter with intent.

Three of the accused were held for a bail hearing. Police have not disclosed the names of the accused and none of the allegations have been proven in court.
