Crash sends one person to hospital and slows traffic on busy Mississauga roads

One person has been rushed to hospital and drivers can expect slowdowns on major roadways following a crash on Hurontario Street near on Highway 401 in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police say emergency crews were called to the southbound lanes of Hurontario Street near the Highway 401 exit around 11:45 a.m. on Friday for reports of a two-car collision.

Photos from the crash scene show a black SUV with significant front-end damage and a red sedan that appears to have been hit on the driver’s side stopped in the intersection with first responders standing by.

Police say at least one patient was transported to hospital in unknown condition.

A police spokesperson said traffic will likely be impacted for some time due to construction in the area coupled with the crash cleanup. Drivers should avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.
