Crash involving large truck snarls traffic on Highway 401 in Mississauga

OPP were on the scene of a crash on Highway 401 in west Mississauga that involved at least two trucks on Friday afternoon.

A crash involving a large truck and at least one other vehicle has reportedly snarled Friday afternoon eastbound traffic on Highway 401 in the west end of Mississauga.

According to a commuter who was travelling in the area, a large truck collided with another vehicle in the eastbound express lanes between Winston Churchill Boulevard and Mississauga Road at about 2 p.m.

There is no word yet on any injuries.

The commuter said the second vehicle involved was possibly a construction or transportation ministry truck that was picking up traffic pylons on the highway at the time.

Two express lanes and the shoulder were reportedly blocked as a result of the collision, which took place just as Friday afternoon rush hour was starting.

According to reports from the scene, the eastbound collector lanes in the area were moving smoothly.

OPP are on the scene, according to reports.
