Emergency crews are on the scene dealing with a crash that sent one man to hospital in life-threatening condition and closed part of a major highway in Caledon.

The OPP said around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday that first responders had been called to a stretch of Highway 10 in Caledon for reports of a collision.

A spokesperson with Peel Paramedics has confirmed that one adult male suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision and was transported to Brampton Civic Hospital before being transferred to a trauma centre.

Two other victims involved in the crash also sustained minor injuries and paramedics say they were both transported to hospital as a precaution.

In an update on Thursday, police said three vehicles were involved and officers closed Highway 10 between Old School Road and King Street during the investigation.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible, with heavy truck traffic being directed to use Mayfield Rd to the south or King Street to connect with Airport Road to bypass the scene.
