COVID-19 numbers are down almost across the board in Durham Region, with hospital numbers showing the most dramatic improvements with patients in the region’s hospitals slashed almost in half from 37 to 18 for the week of March 5-11.

The only category not down in the period was the per cent positivity rate, which ticked up to 8.1 per cent from 7.2 per cent.

The number of new cases dropped from 184 to 171, the number of outbreaks in hospitals, retirement centres and long term care homes fell to 8 (from 9) and the incidence rate (per 100,000 population) dropped from 25.1 to 23.3.

Most importantly, the number of deaths in the region dropped to the best number of all: zero.

For anyone counting at home, Saturday marks the three-year anniversary of the Pandemic in Canada.
