Hospital numbers dropped, new case numbers are stabilizing, and even institutional outbreaks are getting resolved in a timely fashion.

With the COVID numbers underrepresented it’s too early to get excited but Durham Region’s virus totals are continuing their downward spiral and that can only bode well for the future.

There was one more death added to Saturday’s total, however, bring the total death count since the pandemic began to 420.

There are 121 people in Durham hospitals with the virus – down 20 from yesterday – and 11 in ICU, which is down two.  New case number yesterday hit 107 (up three), with 31 from Oshawa and 23 from Ajax. Institutional outbreaks, meanwhile, went from 28 to 27 and the number of people affected fell from 80 to 64.

There is only one outbreak bigger than ten, and that’s at Bay Ridges with ten, plus one resident in hospital. All workplace outbreaks have been resolved.
