COVID-19 numbers continue to fall in Durham Region, with all but one category showing a decrease and, in some cases a substantial drop from the previous reporting period.

That one category, is deaths and there was one COVID-related death last week, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 519.

The rest of the underlying numbers were all positive. New case totals for the week of November 6-12 were 229, down from 278, and hospitalizations dropped significantly from 42 to 25. There are two people in intensive care.

The weekly incidence rate fell from 37.9 (per 100,000 population) to 31.2 and the per cent positivity rate dropped to 9.3 from 10.6. Outbreaks at long term care homes, hospitals and retirement homes were cut almost in half as well, going from 17 to just eight last week.

The good news comes as flu rates appear to on the downswing in Durham as well.
