COVID-19 has now forced the closure of 16 schools across Peel (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon), with more than 400 students and staff infected by the virus.

As well, 18 other schools remain open but are experiencing an outbreak of the virus.

The latest data from both the Peel District School Board and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board shows COVID continues to wreak havoc due to infections and the inability to find replacement teachers when regular staff is forced to go home and isolate.

And, as has been shown time and again, COVID-19 does not discriminate as schools have been shut down across Peel Region, although most of the closures are in Mississauga.

Where the split occurs is in the number of cases as the public board currently has 311 students and staff infected and the Catholic board has 119 infections. In total, 430 students and staff from schools in Peel Region have COVID-19.

The worst hit schools are those in Brampton with Lorenville Public School having 18 cases and W.G. Davis Public School with 11.
