Covid cases still on the rise in Ajax and Durham

Covid-19 cases continue to rise in Durham Region with 33 new cases reported yesterday, up from 28 the previous day.

Ajax reported the highest new case load with 12. Whitby reported nine, while the three northern and mostly rural municipalities of Scugog, Uxbridge and Brock were Covid-free.

There are now 116 active cases of the virus, with four people hospitalized and one in ICU.

Delta variant totals have now reached 180, with six active.

Mass vaccination clinics in Durham are winding down but people are still getting vaccinated, with the percentage of 12-plus residents who have received at least one dose now at 77.6, with 70.6 per cent of the 12-and-over population now fully vaccinated.
