COVID-19 viral numbers trending downward from Pickering to Oshawa to Clarington

COVID-19 numbers are down in almost every category in Durham Region as residents continue to transition to a post-virus world.
The only number not down from the previous reporting period is an important one: the number of deaths in the week of Feb. 12-18 remained steady at one.
The number of new cases is down to 196 (from 211) and the number of outbreaks at hospitals, long term care homes and retirement residences dropped by one to nine, with one outbreak at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
Other statistics on the virus are also positive: the number of patients with COVID in hospital is down from 36 to 25 (with ICU patients reduced to one from three); the weekly incidence rate per 100,000 people is now 26.7 (from 28.8) and the per cent positivity rate has dropped from 8.7 per cent to 7.9 per cent.
Wastewater sampling numbers at Durham’s seven testing stations are also all stable.
