COVID-19 patient counts continue to rise at hospitals in Oakville, Burlington, Milton

The number of COVID-19 patients in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills hospitals continues to climb.

There are currently 117 patients being cared for at Halton hospitals, at least 14 of whom are in ICU.

There are 66 patients at Oakville-Trafalgar, 32 at Joseph Brant, 12 at Milton District and seven at Georgetown. Acute care capacity is at 105 per cent in Halton and ICU capacity is at 80 per cent.

There are 42 outbreaks at institutions or congregate living centres in Halton, including both Oakville-Trafalgar and Jo Brant hospitals.

There are 588 new COVID-19 infections being reported today in Halton, a number that is a small fraction of the actual case count as the province continues to de-emphasize counting cases.

There were a total of 7,189 vaccines given yesterday, 6,870 of them being third, (booster) shots. For the first time, the percentage of Halton residents who have received at least one dose of the vaccine has edged over 90 per cent. Second dose coverage stands at 87 per cent.
