COVID-19 pandemic continues to wane with just 21 hospital cases in Durham Region

COVID-19 numbers continue to wane in Durham Region as the medical community gets a solid handle on the virus that has plagued the world for more than three years now.

There are just 129 new cases in the region (March 19-25) and 21 people in hospital with the virus, with one person in intensive care. There was one death in Durham this past week, bringing the death total to 546 since March 2020.

The weekly incidence rate (per 100,000 population) is down to 17.6 and the per cent positivity rate sits at just 5.8 per cent. There are six current outbreaks, including two in local hospitals and four in retirement residences and long term care homes.
