COVID-19 outbreak officially over at Hamilton St. Joe’s faciliaty

The outbreak at a St. Joe’s satellite facility has been declared over by Public Health.

It became official on Feb. 23.

Five healthcare workers and 15 patients had tested positive on the fifth floor of the Satellite Health Facility (SHF).

“In managing the outbreak, Hamilton Public Health, St. Joe’s Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety teams regularly screened and tested all patients and healthcare workers for COVID -19,” said health officials in an official statement.

“They also conducted contact tracing, and implemented extensive infection control measures.”

The fifth floor of the SHF had been closed to admissions and visitors since Feb. 3.

The floor will open to admissions this week.

Visiting to the floor will resume on March 1, 2021.
