A COVID-19 outbreak has recently been declared at a long term care (LTC) home in Burlington.

Halton Region Public Health officially declared an outbreak at the Village of Tansley Woods long term care home on June 28, 2021.

According to regional data, there are a total of 18 cases of COVID-19 at the facility.

In a statement to inhalton.com, Halton Region Public Health confirmed that they are aware of two cases among staff and 16 cases among residents.

“Management of the outbreak is ongoing, including ensuring all infection prevention and control measures are in place and Public Health continues to monitor the situation,” Halton Region Public Health said in the statement.

“With the high proportion of fully vaccinated residents in our LTC homes, we are seeing very mild symptoms in most residents who get COVID-19, and far less severe disease and hospitalization than with the outbreaks experienced in the first two waves of the pandemic.”

The facility declared its first COVID-19 outbreak back in October 2020.
