COVID-19 numbers from Pickering to Clarington continue to fall – zero new deaths

COVID-19 numbers continue to decline in Durham Region with one number standing out as best of all – no new deaths last week.

There are 44 people in hospital in Durham – down from 55 the previous week – with just two in ICU. The incidence rate per 100,000 population is down to 61.8, down from 70.6 and the fifth consecutive week with declining numbers. The positivity rate is also down to 9.4 per cent (from 11.2 per cent) and the total number of cases in the May 15-21 period dropped from 518 to 453.

Institutional outbreaks fell as well, with a dozen last week – including two in a hospital setting – from 19 the previous seven-day period.
